Energy Performance Certificates and Display Energy Certificates
When
a commercial property is marketed for sale or rent an Energy
Performance Certificate
(EPC) is required. The certificate is valid for ten years and
the penalty for failing to provide an EPC is 12.5% of rateable
value (minimum penalty £500, maximum £5000).
There are a few
exceptions where a Commercial EPC is not required:
- A detached building less than
50m2
- A property which is never likely to have
heating or cooling of any kind
- A place of worship
- A temporary building to be used for less
than 2 years
We have successfully completed many EPC's and lodged them on behalf of Clients. A representative number of our energy performance audits have been scrutinised by our accreditation bodies and found to be fair representations of the asset rating of the buildings to which they relate.
